Cambodia Gambling Halls

There is a captivating history to the Cambodia gambling halls that reside just across the dividing line from next door Thailand, in which casino gaming is not permitted. Eight gambling halls are anchored in a relatively tiny space in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling halls is in a prime area, a three to four hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 most popular gambling locations in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a thriving business with Thai laborers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The phenomenal income accrued from the casinos ranges from seven and a half million dollars to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a few controls requirements for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mainly Thai; however, financial sources are vague. The borders are ceremoniously open from 0900 to 5:00 p.m., and though visas are allegedly necessary to pass, there are methods around this, as is real of many border crossings.
The first Cambodia gambling dens premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving just one casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored bateau gambling den, contains 150 slot machines and sixty table games. The Naga casino is open 24 hours with forty two tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, four tables of chemin de fer, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The 1st gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown quickly followed. There are one hundred and fifty slot machine games and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machines and 68 tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features 300 slot machines and 70 table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slots and 96 gaming tables, including eighty seven punto banco (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machine games and sixty six of the familiar gaming tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight casinos in Poipet, also a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and ninety seven casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a comprehensive resort and hotel compound that contains numerous comforts aside from the gambling den, which provides 10,000 square feet of one hundred and thirty one armed bandits and 88 tables.
