Cambodia Gambling Dens

There is a fascinating story to the Cambodia gambling halls that lie just over the dividing line from neighboring Thailand, in which gambling hall gambling is banned. Eight gambling halls are situated in a relatively small space in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia gambling dens is in a perfect spot, a three to 4 hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the two most popular wagering centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a huge business with Thai workers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The phenomenal income accrued from the gambling dens ranges from 7.5 million dollars to over twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a number of restrictions constraints for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is required to be mainly Thai; however, financial sources are vague. The borders are formally open from 09:00 to 1700, and although visas are for all intents and purposes required to pass, there are ways around this, as is accurate of most border crossings.

The original Cambodia casinos opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving just 1 gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked boat gambling den, contains one hundred and fifty slots and 60 table games. The Naga casino never closes with forty two tables of mini-baccarat, 4 tables of blackjack, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The initial gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown quickly followed. A total of 150 slots and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machine games and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains 300 one armed bandits and seventy table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machines and 96 gaming tables, including 87 baccarat banque (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 one armed bandits and 66 of the normal table games, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, again a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and 97 table games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a multinational vacation and hotel complex that features numerous luxuries in addition to the gambling hall, which has ten thousand sq.ft. of 130 slot machines and 88 gaming tables.
